Anadina de Jesus Ventura

     Anadina de Jesús Ventura, nacida el 19 de Abril de 1930 en Las Lagunas de Moca en la Republica Dominicana, falleció en su casa rodeada de seres queridos, el día Martes, 26 de Marzo de 2024 en Weehawken, New Jersey en los Estados Unidos, a la edad de 93 años. Muchas veces mencionó el haber nacido un Sábado de Gloria, y la voluntad de Dios la llamó a su lado durante la Semana Santa.

     Anadina, conocida como Mami, Ma, Tía, Abuela, Comadrita, Ana, mi Amiga, fue una mujer fuerte, y fuente de inspiración. Todos que la conocieron disfrutaron de sus consejos, de su bondad, y de sus regaños, que siempre fueron bien intencionados.

     Ella era la primera en llamarse débil y sin fuerza física a raíz de haber sido desahuciada cuando niña por razón de una fiebre tifoidea. Sin embargo, fue un peñón de estabilidad y fortaleza rigiendo su vida a su manera, por encima de lo que le dijeran, pero siempre guiada por su fe en Jesús Dios. Anadina, a pesar de su crianza mimada, tuvo fuerza y determinación, ascendiendo a la ocasión de criar a sus hijas como madre soltera y ayudar y darle albergue a diferentes familiares y amistades.

     Al pasar los años, luego de haberse casado con Luis Vinicio Sabeta (Papucho) y tenido su primera hija, Maria (Mery) Sabeta, Anadina se fue dando cuenta que no salía embarazada de nuevo. Su anhelo de ser madre otra vez la llevó a incesantemente buscar solución en Santo Domingo, y luego en Nueva York, donde encontró un doctor que laboró hasta identificar la razón por la cual estaba estéril. Ella no titubeo someterse a la operación que luego le permitió dar a luz a su segunda hija, Isabel Altagracia Sabeta. Lo que no sabia en ese tiempo era como Jesús Dios la iba a bendecir con mas hijas en virtud de su bondad y amor a los niños.

     Amante a la costura, Anadina desde joven diseñaba y cosía su propia ropa, talento que utilizó cosiéndole vestuarios a sus hijas, familiares, amistades, y a muñecas. En ocasión compartió que, si hubiesen sido las cosas diferentes creciendo, quizás hubiera sido una famosa diseñadora. Ella también se conocía por ser “andariega” (palabra que frecuentemente utilizó para referirse a sí misma). Solía contar que de niña se salía a la calle o no regresaba a la casa directamente de la escuela, acción, que con frecuencia resultaba en un castigo. De adulta, las personas que vivían con ella o estaban de visita a Nueva York, disfrutaron siempre de paseos y de visitas a lugares de interés turísticos.

     Anadina le sobreviven sus hijas, Mery e Isabel, Miriam, Sandra y Melida Sabeta, y Luisa Liz. Al igual que su hija adoptada, Carmen. Su hermano Julio Guzman y esposa Gladys. Sus hermanas política Rosa Melida y esposo Hector Herrera, y Ozema Vasquez (Rosita). Nietos y nietas Etienne, Adrian, Jorge Omar, Nelson, Danielle, Ashley, Emily, Anadina, Jorge Andres, Cristina, Christopher, Solange, Olliver, Sofia, Gabriel, Melissa, Michelle, Monica, y sus bisnietas.

     El velorio tendrá lugar en la funeraria el lunes 1 de abril de 2024, de 16 a 20 horas. Se llevará a cabo una misa de funeral el martes 2 de abril en Holy Family R.C. Iglesia, Union City, a las 10:30 am. El entierro seguirá en el Mausoleo del Santo Nombre, en Jersey City.

     Anadina de Jesús Ventura, born on April 19, 1930, in Las Lagunas de Moca, Dominican Republic, took her last breath on March 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at home, in Weehawken, New Jersey. She was 93 years old.

     To know her was to love her. She loved and lived life as she deemed right, always guided by Jesus’ teachings. A God-fearing woman, who was a pillar of strength and stability, she was an inspiration, raising two daughters as a single mother, and opening her home to those in need, whether they were family or friends. She was full of advice, and quick to reprimand…all coming from a place of love.

     Anadina was willful and determined. Years after being married to Luis Vinicio Sabeta (Papucho) and having her first daughter, Maria (Mery) Sabeta, she realized she was unable to conceive. With her longing for another child, she incessantly sought a medical reason and solution to her sterility, first in Dominican Republic and later in New York City where she found a doctor who took special interest in her case. She underwent surgery and subsequently had a second daughter, Isabel Altagracia Sabeta. At the time, she did not know that later she would be blessed with more daughters as a result of her kindness and love of children.

     A creative and talented seamstress, growing up, Anadina designed and sewed her own clothing. A talent she later applied to making outfits for her daughters, family members, friends, and dolls. She even upholstered her living room furniture which remains today! On occasion she shared how she could have been a famous designer had her upbringing and life course been different.

     Anadina was not one to stay home, and as an adult, others benefited from her joy of touring NYC, being the one who took everyone who visited to all the attractions. She was proud of having worked at The Plaza Gift Shop (before Trump, as she would always state) for years, meeting interesting people and celebrities, and her walk on 59th Street from Fifth Avenue to Broadway to the station where she took the train home was one of her favorites.

     Anadina is survived by her daughters, Mery and Isabel, Miriam, Sandra and Melida Sabeta, and Luisa Liz, as well as her “adopted” daughter, Carmen. Also, by her brother Julio Guzman and his wife Gladys, her sisters-in-law, Rosa Melida and husband Hector Herrera, and Ozema Vasquez (Rosita), grandchildren Etienne, Adrian, Jorge Omar, Nelson, Danielle, Ashley, Emily, Anadina, Jorge Andres, Cristina, Christopher, Solange, Olliver, Sofia, Gabriel, Melissa, Michelle, Monica, and great-grandchildren.

     A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, April 1st, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd, at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union City, at 10:30 am.  Entombment will follow at Holy Name Mausoleum, Jersey City.
