Amira Kerbaj, 82, of Jersey City, passed away on Tuesday, April 30th. She was born in Lebanon, the youngest of nine children and had a rich and fulfilling life there as a wife and mother to five children. In the 1990s, Amira emigrated to New Jersey and lived here with her husband the late Tanios Kerbaj, her son Pierre, his wife Elham, and her grandson Tony. She lived next door to her niece Madeline and her brother-in-law John. The families were extremely close and involved in each other's daily lives. Her children in New Jersey, Florida, and Lebanon, as well as her nine grandchildren, were her whole world.
Amira was an amazing, kind and warm-hearted woman, an excellent cook, and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was loving, caring, and happy, and always had a smile on her face. Amira was a devout Catholic who found joy and solace in her faith throughout her life. She will be missed dearly by the many people whose hearts she touched.
She was predeceased by her daughter Jeanette and her husband Tanios. She is survived by her children Pierre and his wife Elham, George and his wife Renee, Houda and her husband Charbel, Nada and her husband Moussa, her nine grandchildren, Tony, Christina, Charbel, Stephanie, Tony, Joe, Maria, Elie, and Michelle, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 3-5 PM at Michalski Funeral Home, 463 Monmouth St., Jersey City. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 6 at St. Sharbel Maronite Church, Somerset, NJ at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
