Marjorie D. Bingham, age 80, died the morning of February 21, 2018 at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica to Millicent and Lloyd Thoywell-Henry in 1937 and was the youngest of 3 children. Marjorie was a smart, artistic, mischievous little girl often playing pranks on her older siblings Trevor and Shirley as well as the kitchen and gardening staff at their cherished home on Outlook Ave. She spoke often of how deeply saddened she was at the passing of her journalist father in 1946 after he returned to Jamaica from Europe where he'd worked as a war correspondent. In the 1960's she left the West Indies for New York City and fell in love with the bustle and electric excitement of Manhattan Island. She earned an Associates degree in Accounting at New York University. She married childhood friend and neighbor Desmond Bingham and gave birth to 5 children; Jennifer, Michael, Denyse, Catherine and Monique. Upon retirement in the 1990’s, Marjorie began focusing seriously on painting and has created and sold hundreds of works of art throughout the country. She is a grandmother to Shawn, Symmone, Iceylean, Sakinah, Megan, Drew, Quinn and Allison and a great grandmother to Frankie and Mercedes. Memorial services will be held on:
