Alice Litke, aged 95, peacefully passed away on September 28, 2023. She was a cherished mother to her children: Eddie, Janice, Theresa, and Dolores (married to Bill). Alice was a loving grandmother to Austin and Alex, and a beloved aunt to her nephew Ken (married to Terry). She also held the role of a grand aunt to Rachel and Hunter.
Alice was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 69 years, Ed, as well as her brother-in-law Frank (married to Arlene), and her parents Josephine and Stanislaw. A longtime resident of Jersey City, Alice was an active member of St. Anthony, Our Lady of Częstochowa, St. Joseph's Parish, and Our Lady of Sorrows.
After graduating from Ferris High School, Alice pursued her passion for nursing at Seton Hall University, Jersey City Medical Center, becoming a registered nurse. She always embraced her Polish heritage, frequently attending Polish Dance Picnic parties in New Jersey, New York, and Florida. It was at one of these events where she met the love of her life, Ed. They married and continued to celebrate their Polish traditions and attend dances together for the next 69 years.
In 1998, Eddie and Alice relocated from Jersey City to Madeira Beach, Florida, where they made a new home. Alice had a passion for various crafts and was socially active, easily making friends wherever she went. Her family, especially her children, held a special place in her heart. One could often find her and her husband, Ed, watching the sunset at Johns Pass Beach. Alice was a proud member of the American Legion Post 125 and the Polish Center of Pope Paul II.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, October 9th, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
