Bazyli Zelisko, 93, died peacefully at home in Jackson, NJ on August 19, 2021 surrounded by his children. He was born February 16, 1928 in Brynce Cerkowne, Poland, the son of Grzegorz and Helena (Kowalska) Zelisko.
He served with the Polish Youth Army in the Middle East during World War II. After the war, he reunited with his family in England where he met his future wife. He married Antonina Wojcik on January 5, 1952. In 1958, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Jersey City, NJ.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Antonina Zelisko, brothers, Kostek Zelisko and Dominik Zelisko, brothers-in-law Wladek Witek, Stanislaw Wojcik, Ludwig Szulc, sisters-in-law Pam Zelisko, Josefa Figura and Zofia Wojcik. He is survived by his sister Stefa Witek and sister-in-law Helena Zelisko of England, sister-in-law Bronia Szulc, daughters Wanda Donahue and husband Lee, Elizabeth Garry and husband Matthew, son Mark Zelisko, eight grandchildren Robert Herrick and partner Courtney Roberts, Scott Herrick, Garrett Zelisko, Tyler Zelisko, Chelsea Zelisko, Caitlin Garry, Bryan Garry, Kevin Garry, two great grandchildren Lucas Zelisko, Maddox (Beanz) Herrick and many nieces and nephews.
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play soccer, his favorite sport.
Calling hours are Monday, August 23, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Michalski Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on August 24, 2021 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, Doylestown, PA.
