Gloria E Rivera

It is with great sadness that we share our mom, Gloria Rivera, went to be with the Lord this past Saturday.

She suffered a stroke in September 2020 and complications progressed rapidly. Gloria contracted Covid-19 in February and passed away February 27, 2021.

Gloria was born 8th out of 13 children of Ana Maria Rivera and Pedro Rivera.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Gloria came to NJ and was a native of Jersey City for over 50 years. She was a beloved mother to Gloryvel Velazquez, the late Julio Velazquez and Adalberto Velazquez. Gloria was grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 4. Love of family and love of God were the guiding principles throughout her life.

She was the "mother" of Brunswick and had endless energy and love for us all. 

Post-COVID, the family plans to celebrate Mom's life with a social gathering. However, below are details that will take place Friday, March 5th, 2021.

There will be Mass service open to the public this Friday, March 5th at 12pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 344 6th St, Jersey City, NJ. Mass service will also be hosted virtually via Facebook Live. All are welcomed to tune in virtually or in person.

Following Mass service, there will be a pre-burial "drive by" around Brunswick St to celebrate her life and immediately lay her to rest along side her late son, Julio Velazquez at The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, 435 Newark Ave, Jersey City, NJ. 

Mask wearing and social distancing is A MUST. Please refrain from any hugging, hand shaking and/or contact.
