Juanita Mercado

  With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Juanita Mercado, our loving and devoted grandmother, mother, and friend on May 8, 2022. Juanita Mercado, in her 88th year, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Mother’s day evening.

  Juanita was a valued member of the community and actively involved in volunteering with her church, community, and gave generously to charity. Born in Puerto Rico, Juanita sought a new adventure and traveled to the United States where she found her home in Jersey city, NJ. She found work in factories between Hoboken and Jersey City, then joined the Hudson County Courts, where she worked for nearly 30 years as a custodian. Juanita was recognized for her passion to help others and the kindness she brought to anyone who crossed her path. She was a devoted Catholic and always made religion a priority with her family.

  Juanita is survived by her Husband Luis Mercado, daughter Marissa Mercado, and loving grandchildren, Steven Mercado, Mariah Maldolnado, and Juliana Rivera. She lived a profound life as a beloved wife, amazing mother of two, and proud grandmother. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
