Sandra James

Sandra Elaine James, 75, transitioned peacefully from natural causes on September 5, 2025, at Alaris Health in Jersey City, NJ.

Sandra James (nee Cooper) was born on June 18, 1950, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Rosa Lee Cooper and Herbert Harris. She attended Jersey City Public Schools and later worked as a childcare provider, while also volunteering at local churches to help distribute food to those in need in the community.

Sandra and Lucius James Jr. met in Brooklyn NY. They were united in marriage on January 15, 1966. From that union, five children were born.

Years later, Sandra met Boston Morrison Jr. with whom she shared three children with.  She was the proud mother of 8 children.

Known for her compassionate nature, Sandra worked as a caretaker, dedicating herself her life to serving others with kindness and patience. Her career reflected her true character-always putting others first and finding joy in making a difference in people's lives. She also volunteered at various food pantries, where she helped distribute food to those in need in the community.

Sandra's passions filled her home and heart. She loved, creating meals that brought her family together, and she was known for having a smile on her face. Her warmth and laughter made her home a gathering place filled with love, joy, and the aroma of her delicious food.

Sandra cherished her many grandchildren, nurturing them with love, guidance, and joy. She was also a devoted sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, pouring the same care, humor, and affection into the lives of her family members. Sandra took immense pride in her family, and they will carry forward her legacy of resilience, kindness, and devotion.

Sandra faced life's challenges with grace, courage, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Sandra was preceded in death by her late husband, Lucius James Jr: father of her 3 children: Boston Morrison Jr: mother: Rosa Lee Cooper; father: Herbert Harris; son:
Kenneth James; daughter: Lucia James; Brother: Eddie Kinney; and sisters: Ruth Lee "Toots" Horne, Cynthia Boyd, and Rosalyn "Debbie" Cooper.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children: Cassandra Rucker (James), Sheila James, Carlena James, Philip Morrison, Sarica Morrison, Catherine Morrison brothers: William Cooper, Daryl Cooper, Theodore Harris (Darlene); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
