Stanislawa Szpala Obituary

Stanislawa T. Szpala,  90, of Jersey City, entered peacefully into eternal rest in her home on June 12, 2019.  Born July 5, 1928 in Borek Nowy, Poland, she immigrated to the United States in 1967.  She and her late husband, Leon, settled in Jersey City, and lovingly raised six of their seven children.  She worked nights in New York, while her family was safe at home, as an office cleaner to help provide for them.   A devoted wife and mother, her spiritual home was St. Anthony of Padua Church, mother Church of Polish Immigrants in Jersey City, there, she faithfully worshipped and prayed to the Blessed Mother for strength and safety of her family. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon, her son Augustyn, and her six siblings.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Maria, Jeff, Anna & her husband, Clem, Adam & his wife, Christina, Theresa, Richard & his wife, Melissa, her grandchildren;  Gregory, Paulina, Agnes, Daniel, Alexander, Gabriella, Kathryn, Paul, and Janice.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Nina, Christopher, Igor, Susannah, Paulina, Matthew and Jonathan, and many nieces and nephews both here and in Poland & her dedicated and loving caregiver, Maryla Matuszewska.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Michalski Funeral Home, 425 Monmouth St., Jersey City.   A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 15th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Jersey City.   Interment will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
