Virginia Lago, 88, of Jersey City, NJ, joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven June 2, 2022.
Born March 28, 1934 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to Domingo Arguinzoni Rivera and Maximina Castello Marrero. In 1955, she married Manuel Lago and moved to New Jersey where she raised six children and lived the rest of her life.
A devout Roman Catholic, Virginia was an active member of the Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister and working with various charities and rehabilitation organizations. She visited the sick and elderly in hospitals and attended to AIDS patients during the early start of the epidemic.
She was formerly a member of the Legion of Mary, later becoming a member of the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. In 1990, she was chosen Mother of the Year by St. Peter’s Parish.
She loved her children and extended family, her many friends, her dogs Lina, Lucky and Soy, attending Mass, plants and flowers, eating ice cream and watching the Catholic Channel, as well as Shark Tank and Jeopardy.
She is survived by her six children, Manuel, Ramon, Rinaldo, Grisel, Ariel and Elliott and five grandchildren, Ricardo, Mariel, Christina, Alex, Ryan & Eliel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, from 2pm to 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, at 11am, at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery.
